Night life in Torrevieja offers visitors a superb variety of things to do and places to visit. Many holidaymakers and residents like to start their evening with a stroll along the picturesque promenade, taking in the sea breeze and stopping along the way in one or two of the lively bars for a few pre-dinner drinks. Here you can decide on which of the many excellent restaurants to choose before continuing the evening with some live entertainment, karaoke and maybe a bit of dancing in one of the city’s late night bars or clubs. For those on holiday with children, many of Torrevieja’s bars have outdoor terraces where the kids can play and enjoy a soft drink or milkshake. Having said that, children get bored easily and playing outside a bar is not the most exciting thing to do. I grew up in Africa, and as a child some of the most delightful nights I remember where spent under the stars around a roaring camp fire.

Visitors from the United Kingdom, Ireland and northern Europe will know just how difficult it can be to plan a camping trip, and how disheartening it is to arrive on a sunny day only to have the rain come down before you’ve even pitched the tent. Well, with over 300 days of sunshine, and average summer temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius, the Costa Blanca enjoys perfect camping weather. Within an hour’s drive from Torrevieja there are a number of beautiful places to explore, where as the sun goes down you can pitch your tent, light a fire and enjoy a peaceful evening under the stars.

For those that like to hear the waves crashing on the beach, there are many miles of coastline offering secluded coves and bays where you can make camp and even fish for your dinner; nothing beats fresh grilled fish on the BBQ. Here the kids can swim to their hearts content and explore the beaches and rock pools. Only a few kilometres from the city, Torremendo Lake is another great spot for both camping and fishing where the clean waters are perfect for a cooling swim, and the surrounding countryside offers ample shade to enjoy a picnic. Then you have the splendid mountains and lush valleys, awash in wild flowers and dotted with grazing cows and sheep where you will see the odd rabbit darting among the bushes. These are just a few of the lovely areas where free camping can be enjoyed.

Others are huge complexes, similar to beach resorts that have chalet’s and bungalows, a vast selection of facilities and numerous swimming pools and sporting options.
